Pattern Overview
The Glass Vase Scarf is a small accessory, featuring a combination of cables and lace columns.
This scarf is knit from tip to tip with DK-weight merino wool.
It begins at the narrowest point, and the stitches are increased along both edges of the scarf. Then a straight section in the middle is worked, and then the stitches are decreased along the edges to the other tip.
The first and last 2 stitches form an i-cord edging, which makes the edges look neat and prevents them from curling.
You will find the free written pattern instructions below.
This scarf is a great match for the Glass Vase Headband.

Pattern Notes
Pattern: The scarf features a combination of cables (worked over 4sts) and lace columns (worked over 2sts) between the i-cord edges. The cables and lace columns are separated by 1 purl stitch.
I-cord edges: The i-cord edging is created by knitting the first 2 stitches of every row and slipping the last 2 stitches of every row with yarn in front.
Increases: One stitch is increased at the beginning and end of every other row. The increase is made after the 2 i-cord edge stitches.
Decreases: One stitch is decreased at the beginning and end of every other row. The decrease is made after the 2 i-cord edge stitches.
To simplify the pattern, you can substitute m1Rp and m1Lp with m1R and M1L.
On the wrong side, work the edge stitches as described above and work the other stitches as they appear – knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches and yarn overs.
