Pattern Overview

The In Bloom Bandana is a great accessory to wear this spring or summer. The bandana is knitted with sport-weight cotton yarn, and the design features a delicate lace stitch.

The bandana is knitted back and forth. It starts from the bottom edge and grows with increases on the right side. You can easily modify the size of your bandana by adding or subtracting repeats.

The first and last 2 stitches form an i-cord edging, which makes the edges look neat and prevents them from curling. The bandana also has i-cord ties.

First, you will cast on the required number of stitches. Next, you will knit a triangle from the bottom up until you reach your desired length. Then you will knit the first i-cord tie, connect it to the bandana, knit to the other edge of the bandana, and knit the second tie.

Pattern Notes

I-cord edges: The i-cord edging is created by knitting the first 2 stitches of every row, and slipping the last 2 stitches of every row with yarn in front. Don’t tighten the edge stitches.

Increases: 2 stitches are increased at the beginning and at the end of each right-side row using M1R or M1L before and after the 2 i-cord edge stitches. Don’t tighten the increased stitches.

If you want to simplify the pattern, you can replace the M1L/M1R with yo.
