I-cord is a simple knitting technique that creates a knit tube. This is a great way to create ties for various knitting projects.

How to knit an i-cord
To knit an i-cord, you will need your yarn and needles.
It is best to use two double-pointed needles, but you can also use circular needles. This technique requires sliding stitching from one end of the needle to another, so it is faster and more comfortable to do with DPNs than with circular needles.
Step 1: Cast on the required number of stitches using the Long-tail cast-on.
Typically, it is 3-5 stitches; the most common number is 3. The more stitches you cast on, the thicker your cord will be. For a really thin i-cord, you can cast on 2 stitches.
Step 2: Do not turn. Slide the stitches to the other end of the knitting needle.
Step 3: Bring the yarn behind the work (the yarn is coming from the last stitch on the needle) and knit all stitches.
Repeat steps 2-3 until your i-cord is the desired length – simply knit and slide.
To keep the tension even, give your i-cord a little tug after each knit row.
